In 2018, Pastor Bev answered a call to serve as our pastor in Estelline. She has lived in 13 states, but this is her first time living in this part of the country. She is loving experiencing eastern South Dakota lake and farm country. So far, one of her favorite experiences is seeing the bald eagles which make their homes nearby.
Pastor Bev is originally from Michigan. She is a proud Michigander and, if you ask, she will point out her favorite MI spots using her hand as a map.
Bev is ordained in the ELCA and believes first and foremost in the saving grace and love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She also deeply values ecumenism and has a love and respect for our neighbors of other faith backgrounds. She has found deep meaningful worship experiences from practicing her faith with people and spiritual leaders from many different Christian denominations, and she draws upon these experiences as she facilitates spiritual practice and leads worship as a pastor here in Estelline.
Bev graduated from New Mexico Community College, the University of New Mexico, and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. She also studied briefly at Oklahoma State University. Bev is a former Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard, in which she served on both on active duty and reserve.
Some of Pastor's hobbies include recalling, through food and cooking, places she has lived such as New Mexico, Colorado and Michigan; travelling; and enjoying the great outdoors through camping, swimming, hiking, campfires, and awaking around 4:30-5am to make a cup of cowboy coffee and listen to the sounds of loons or native birds.
